Colin Cheney is a writer and poet. He has taught writing at New York University and the City University of Hong Kong. Cheney is the author of Here Be Monsters (University of Georgia Press, 2010), a National Poetry Series selection. His essays and articles have appeared in Slate, The Bangkok Post, Coming Close: Forty Essays on Philip Levine, and Ellipsis: Dual Vision by Stephen Posen. His poems have appeared in publications such as AGNI, American Poetry Review, Gettysburg Review, The Kenyon Review, Ploughshares, and Poetry. Cheney has received a Pushcart Prize and a Ruth Lilly Fellowship. He attended Brown University as an undergraduate and New York University for his MFA. He is creator and co-host of the podcast Poet in Bangkok and a founding editor of Tongue: A Journal of Writing & Art. Cheney co-hosts the Vinland Poetry reading series in Portland, Maine.
